5 Stars Goofy But Fun
The important thing to know is that the wheel really doesn’t allow you to do anything you can’t do otherwise. You don’t have to buy one to play the games. It’s just a holder that sets the wiimote in a shape that makes it feel a little more like you’re actually driving a car.

You can still hit the B-button through a button that’s on the underside of the wheel. You can also still use the wiimote’s pointer function as needed (there’s a hole in the wheel at the appropriate place to let the signal through).

It feels decently good in your hands. It’s a little on the small side, but if they’d made it bigger it’d probably have been a little on the heavy side instead, so it’s fine.

If you don’t like this kind of little prop, feel free to skip it. There won’t be any harm done to your ability to play. If do, then enjoy. It does its job well.

I got Mario Kart for my Nintendo Wii and this came with it. Thought it would be a lot of fun and add to the experience, but I found it a little awkward. It’s not that it was difficult to use or anything like that, but using a steering wheel not attached to something is different from anything I have ever done and I was unable to get used to it.

Some people love it and there are many “Wheel Only” Mario Kart games, which make it handy to keep around. I don’t use it most of the time though.

5 Stars Surprisingly useful
The Wii Wheel, although just a piece of plastic in the shape of a steering wheel, is surprisingly useful when playing Mario Kart Wii. At first I thought it was a waste of money, but after trying to play the game without it (just holding the controller sideways), I quickly realized that it’s worth the money for the ease of use it brings. Since most of the time there’s only 1 or 2 people playing, one additional Wii wheel is probably fine, but I probably wouldn’t buy 2 additional to have a set of 4.

3 Stars Only a Starter
This wheel is a good tool for teaching very young players to play Mario Kart Wii. It can help young hands with stabilization and control.

However, it is not at all for more experienced players. The wheel is held steady, so you cannot do anything but turn it left and right. No shaking or vertical movement is allowed. Experienced players cannot perform stunts or tricks and get extra boosts when using this wheel.

I would recommend this wheel as a good starter option for a very young or very inexperienced player. Older or more experienced players will likely outgrow the usefulness of this product very quickly.

1 Star Doesn’t Work
Very disappointing. Thought this would help my sons with their racing games since the steering wheel without a stand did not work. This didn’t work either, and my sons prefer to use the remote and nunchuk. I do not recommend this product.

its not amazing but I liked it and I would reccomend, but its not desperately that one should save up all of their money for it

3 Stars QUESTION
It would be nice to know if when playing a GameCube racing game upon the Wii, if someone could use this controller instead of the old Gamecube controller. Currently one cannot use the Wii controller when playing a Gamecube game so users have to use the joy stick on the old controller. It would be nice to not have to do that.

4 Stars good for small kids.
In short, this wheel made the transition for my 36 month old daughter from not being able to play Mario Kart to being able to play. There are now two levels she can play without any help. The standard issue steering wheel is great, in my opinion, for adults and older kids, but is too hard for my three year old. This one helps.

This steering wheel:

-resets back to neutral position when not actively turning.

-tilts up and down in addition to turning, but is not distracting.

-has suction cups on the bottom to facilitate mounting.

-is somewhat frustrating for use of those people proficient with the standard issue wheel. Full turning is restricted with this racing wheel, which is fine for small kids.

Frankly, my three year old does several things kids her age cannot, so results may vary. However, this wheel should get your kid playing Mario Cart sooner.
