So, I just watched a trailer for a WiiWare game called “Sexy Poker”, and I’m not sure what to think. First of all, it’s not sexy. At all. That’s not just because it’s a videogame and I’m certainly not one for finding them sexy in the least, it’s because it just isn’t sexy. I mean, if it was Daisy Fuentes Sexy Poker that’d be another thing. Unfortunately, that’s not what it is. This is like Pokemon but with videogame betties. When you win they blow you a kiss then lose a garter, or jacket to reveal more of their cleavage. Yes, it’s a WiiWare title so I’m sure the budget for Daisy wasn’t there, but damn, why even try? That’s become the problem with almost everything these days, if you’re going to make something that’s crap don’t even waste the money. We’re not exactly in a very stable economy here. We’re in an economy where you just have to think, “At least I have a job…”, even if it’s a job that you hate. Don’t fret my friends, this is not my main job, I do have a typical office job. But, in an economy where people are thankful to have their crappy job because they know how easily we could have been on the “fired” list, companies should stop making crappy games. And movies. And TV shows. I mean, I know “Sexy Poker” isn’t a multi-million dollar game, but I’m sure it’s in the tens of thousands, maybe hundreds. Try to think of the journey that game had to take from the mind of the lonely geek who dreamt it up to a meeting with his colleagues and co-workers. Then I’m sure they’d discuss it and talk about ideas and what color bikini the player would wear, then a mock-up game with beta testers and the lot. Finally the game would move into final production at which time trailers would be released and viewed by me who would then point out the mediocrity of the product. There is no way that it was cheap. Yes, making this game gave some people jobs, but is it too much to expect them to at least try to do a good job at the one they have? I don’t think so. Of course, with a game that looks so crap it’s not a stretch to think they could really hate their job and just be thankful they’ve still got one…
Muramasa:The Demon Blade is a game that definitely wasn’t cheap to make. Fortunately, it’s looking ridiculously fun. It wasn’t very long ago that I first wrote about Muramasa. Unfortunately, the day I wrote about it was a bad day in the world of Mike, and I had to remind everyone that Red Steel 2 was delayed to 2010. Which I just did again. Don’t you just love me? Since that post though more information has been released, and I’ve been doing my due diligence for you guys. Speaking of due diligence, when you buy a house, make sure you take advantage of that time and really do your work. There’s no telling what you’re gonna find, trust me. Muramasa is going to offer players only two difficulties, which can be switched on the fly. The harder difficulty is obviously harder, but it changes the game in more than just difficulty. Playing on the higher setting is the only way you’ll get certain boss battles, as well as blades. Collecting blades is one of the things that will go into leveling up, so you’ll want as many of those as possible. While the game is a 2D fighter, it’s also got RPG elements in the game. One of the most interesting things about this comes in two forms. The first is that with the ultra fast gameplay, you have to strategize in order to make sure your blades do not take damage, because they can break. Yeah, the things that you need to not get slaughtered in the game can actually break. I’m pretty sure that would be bad for your character. So, you will switch on the fly between blades in order to protect them, and then use what you’ve collected to repair and upgrade them. Yeah, it sounds awesome. Muramasa:The Demon Blade will be out September 8, which will be here before we know it. Until then, watch the videos below to get a taste of the game. Enjoy and stay thirsty my friends.
And for those of you who stuck it through, and got to this post only because it says Sexy Poker in the title, this is just for you, you dirty dirty pervs.
